Vuoden 2013 parhaat albumit

2013 oli ihan hyvä levyvuosi. Ostin nopeiden laskujen mukaan 20 levyä, joista osa toki on ilmestynyt aiemmin kuin 2013. Listaan 9 mielestäni parasta levyä (yheksän lähinnä siks että se näytti semikivalta noin aseteltuna - tosin toi Midnight Memories pilaa kaiken. Aina). Paras ostamani ei-2013 levy oli Conor Maynardin Contrast. En aluks oikee lämmenny mutta joOOoOOOO nyt oon suuri Conor-fani. Kuinka yllättävää.

Arctic Monkeys oli mulle uus tuttavuus tänä vuonna - totta kai oon nimen kuullu siellä täällä vuosikausien ajan, mut joskus alkuvuodesta aloin näkee esim. Instagramissa hehkustusta Do I Wanna Know? - biisistä ja kiinnostuin. Olin kuullu ja tykästyny R U Mine jo aiemmin, mut en tiennyt että sekin tulis tälle levylle. Toivon että maailma antaa mulle mahdollisuuden nähä AM livenä. Tässä levyllä on 12 biisiä, joista neljä ekaa ja neljä vikaa on loistavia, jättäen väliinsä neljän vähän täytebiisin kohdan.   Arctic Monkeysin cover Draken Hold on we're going home -biisistä on yks paras juttu mitä oon kuullu. Tavoite elämässä: olla niinku Arabella samaa nimeä kantavassa biisissä, ja että joku laulaa mulle I Wanna Be Yours serenadinomaisesti. 

Salute (8.11., Syco/Columbia)

Luonnollisesti olin Little Mix -fani jo ajat sitten, mutta tän levyn myötä LM nousi mun lempibändien listalle lopullisesti. Tytöt on kehittyny laulajina ihan uskomattoman paljon, ja tykkään siitä, miten paljon harmonioita tällä levyllä on. Muun muassa Salute ja Stand down on parhaita Little Mix -kappaleita koskaan, ja samalla ne on niin voimaa antavia female/feminist anthems että oon niin ilonen !!!! Toivon että Salutesta tulee video jossa tytöt marssii jossain armeijatyyppisissä vaatteissa ja kaikki naiset maailmasta liittyy niiden marssiin. Ladies all across the world listen up we're looking for recruits !!! Heikompia biisejä on muutama, tai lähinnä tylsempiä. On myös suurta kontrastia esim. biisien Boy ja These four walls sanomassa. Boy on myös upee a capella. heart eyes emoji Little Mixille !

Home (29.4., Asylum Records/Atlantic/Black Butter)

Kiitos aktiivisen Englannin radion kuuntelun kuulin Rudimentalista huomattavasti ennenku suomalaiset havaitsi että Not Giving In kuulostaa semisti nakkiveneeltä. Tällä levyllä ei oo yhtäkään huonoa biisiä (joskin skippaan kyseisen Not giving in), ja artistit jotka Rudimental on saanu feattaamaan, on loistavia. Esimerkiksi John Newmanin äänestä tykkään paljon ja onkin pitäny kuunnella myös herran omaa levyä. Lempibiisejä on avaus- ja nimiraita Home ja Angel Hazen feattaama Hell could freeze.

If You Wait (9.9., Metal & Dust)

Oli joku kaunis talvinen iltapäivä ja istuin bussissa ku Greg James soitti ekan kerran Wasting my young years Radio 1:llä. Se oli menoa sitte samantien, oon niin kiitollinen ihanalle Gregille tästä bändistä ! Sit LG oli vähän aikaa hiljaa ja keväällä tuli seuraavat sinkut ja mä vakuutuin entistä enemmän. Tiiän että laulaja Hannah Reidin ääni jakaa mielipiteitä, mä oon sillä tykkäävällä puolella. Wasting my young years kertoo mun elämästä ja tuun siitä iloseks ja surulliseksi samaan aikaan. Hannahin ääni on myös tasan samanlainen livenä, mikä on erittäin vakuuttavaa. Voisin oikeesti nimetä kaikki biisit mun lemppareiks, mutta esim just WMYY, Strong ja Hey Now. Kuunnelkaa.

The 1975 (2.9., Dirty Hit/Polydor)

Kuulun siihen ärsyttävään koulukuntaan jota ärsyttää ne The 1975 -fanit, jotka hyppäs kelkkaan sen jälkeen kun Harry Styles tweettas niistä. Oon myös ekstraärsyttävä, koska kerron myös kaikille kuinka muistan miten Nick Grimshaw soitti ekaa kertaa Chocolatea joskus reilu vuos sitten ja miten livetweetattiin sitä Twitter-tyttöjen kaa ja se oli parasta. Toivon että pääsen Ruisrockiin tsekkaamaan pojat kun kesällä kerran tänne asti tulevat ! Tykkään laulaja Mattyn lauluäänestä ja -tyylistä ja biisien taustoista, joista löytyy kilinää ja kolinaa joka lähtöön. Ei vitsi oli mun lempiasia ikinä ku the 1975 coveroi What makes you beautifulin !!!! Se on paras cover. Yks niistä. Musta on hyvä ominaisuus, jos parhaita biisejä on vaikee valita, koska moni ei ehkä toimis yksinään, mutta toimii saumattomasti kokonaisuudessa. Sanotaan silti Girls ja Menswear. 

Bad Blood (4.3., Virgin/EMI/Universal)

Vähän isompien levy-yhtiöiden tuotokseen sitten. Nick Grimshaw ja Radio1 on syynä myös tutustumiseeni Bastilleen. Pompeii oli musta loistava, mutta Bad Blood oli se miks lopullisesti kiinnostuin. Tykkään Dan Smithin laulutavasta (ja naamasta….) paljon ja lyriikoista. Ja siitä, että Danin aksentti tulee niin vahvasti läpi. Levyä on kritisoitu siitä, että parhaat bisiit on jätetty pois… Mä en ollu kuunnellu mitään ep:tä ennen ku kuulin radiosta, joten en oikee osaa ottaa kantaa, koska mulle tää toimii kokonaisuutena tällasena. Lempibiisejä Bad Blood, Overjoyed ja Laura Palmer.

Midnight Memories (25.11., Syco/Columbia)

Kun ekaks twin top 8 levyt, ei tää ollu sillä listalla. Syy on yksinkertasesti se, että eka puoli tästä levystä on loistava, toinen lähes pelkästään filleribiisejä. Raja menee 9. biisin jälkeen (poislukien eka biisi Best Song Ever, joka ei nimestään huolimatta oo paras biisi ikinä). Joo, poikien vocal abilities on entisestään parantunu, joo tää on huolellisemmin tehtyä ja joo, pojat on osallistunu biisien kirjottamiseen enemmän. Tiedän myös että pojilla on älytön sopimus, joka edellyttää niiltä yhtä levyä vuodessa, mutta toivoisin silti, että tän julkasua ois lykätty vuodella, ja julkastu hyvä levy, jossa ei juuri fillereitä ole. Ikäväkseni huomasin myös, että useemman ku yhden bisiin lyriikat on melko problemaattisia. Lähinnä kuuntelenkin yheksää ekaa biisiä, ja Diana on mahdollisesti paras 1D-kappale koskaan. You and I on myös loistava, oon kyllä innoissani kuulemaan näitä livenä. Oon ihan tyytyväinen, että osaan olla puolueeton ja kritisoida myös asioita, joita rakastan. Se on yhtä tärkee taito ku osata kritisoida "vihaamiaan" asioita - juttu, jonka aika moni erityisesti fani usein unohtaa, ja sekottaa kritiikin "vihaan."

Paramore (5.4., Fueled By Ramen/Warner)

Eka levy kolmejäseniseltä Paramorelta. Tätä edelsi muutama sinkku vuosien varrella, jotka vaikutti lupaavalta, tosin edellinen pitkäsoitto brand new eyes ei edelleenkään oo musta erityisen hyvä Paramore-levy. Epäilykset haihtu tasan siinä vaiheessa ku kuulin ekan kerran sinkun Now (kiitos vaihteeksi Nick Grimshawlle). Soundi oli erilainen, mut ei liian. Hayleyn omaleimaset lyriikat on edelleen siellä, joskin suurin osa siitä vihaisesta Paramoresta, johon RIOT!:lla rakastuin, on poissa. Ymmärtäähän sen jos elämässä menee hyvin, ni on ehkä hankalampaa kirjottaa vihasia tekstejä. Tässä on muutama vähän täytebiisi, esim. Daydreaming, Last Hope ja Proof. Jotka myös on rakkauslauluja, jotka on epätyypillistä Paramorea. Parhaimmistoa on Fast in my car, Grow up, Part II ja Anklebiters. Erityisen ilonen oon Part II:sta, joka on nimensä mukaisesti jatkoa RIOT!n Let the flames begin -biisille, joka sattumalta on mun lempibiisi Paramorelta, jos yks pitäis valita. Tää ei oo RIOT!:n tasonen levy (tiedän että erittäin moni on tästä eri mieltä), mutta musiikillisesti suoranainen mestariteos, jonka uskon vielä kasvavan mulle lisää.

Union J (28.10., RCA/Syco)

Olin niin ilonen ku toi levy tuli koska en muistanu et olin tilannu nimmaroidun version ! Suurin ongelma tällä sinänsä hyvällä poplevyllä on pituus. Levyllä on 9 originaalibiisiä (joista kaks oli jo julkastu sinkkuna) ja yks cover sekä bonusversiolla yks originaali. Mun mielestä 10 biisiä on liian lyhyt (joskin Paramoren 17 on liikaa), ja nimitänkin tätä ilkeästi "extended ep." Pojat on ite sanou että toivovat julkasevansa vuonna 2014 "paremman albumin" ja ihan suoraan sanottuna sen ei luulis olevan vaikeaa. Union J ei oo kokonaisuus, se on rypäs hyviä yksittäisiä kappaleita. Biisit sopii poikien äänille ihan hyvin, mut koska erityisesti Jaymi on yks parhaita laulajia joita tiedän, ja muutkin hyviä, vois vähä haastavampiakin biisuja olla. Amaze me on ainoa kunnon powerballadi (ja sitäkin parempi), sellasia kaipaan ens levylle enemmänkin. Mun lemppareita on kaikki paitsi Demi Lovato cover Skyscraper ja Head in the clouds. Ehkä eniten Amaze me ja Where are you now, jotka on poikien lempibiisit esittää livenä, btw. Ootan erittäin innolla tänä vuonna julkastavaa tokaa levyä, ja uskon sen pääsevän myös top 9 (tai vastaava) listalle vuonna 2014 :)

Muita hyviä levyjä oli mm. Hurtsin Exile ja Jessie J:n Alive. Exile on vähän tasapaksu ja Alivella muutama loistokappale mutta ei kokonaisuutena maailman ihmeellisin. 

Harryn paras tatska jonka se meni peittämään rumalla isolla ankkuritatskalla. RIP. 

Mulla menee vähän paremmin nyt. Oon saattanu keksiä syyn monille viime aikasille terveysongelmilleni, ja koska en oo vielä juossu tarpeeks lääkäreillä ja täytelly tarpeeks Kelan ja vakuutuksen lappuja, alan nyt selvittämään tätä. Parempaa alkanutta viikkoa kuin viime viikko kaikille !

I don't need no hero I can save myself no hero

In 2013 I was lucky to see many artists (many I haven't seen before) and go to a big number of concerts. I tried to count them all, including supports and those festival acts I didn't particularly want to see. I ended up with striking 42 concerts, and here's a full list, with brief comments.

You've already read all about it. A very good concert from shitty seats. Most emotional of the year

Not sure if you spell it that way. Some Swedish teenagers lip syncing on stage before Justin Bieber, honestly feel bad for them

A lot has happened in less than a year and as of now I'm not sure what I think but the Finland show was one of the best of 2013, and Sweden wasn't far behind. At this point he still sang all songs live.
15. A Day To Remember
Hadn't seen them in two years and with no new record out it was nice to dance to old songs. Honestly so freaking awesome show. Included Adam Elmakias crowd surfing in a boat too.
16. 30 Seconds to Mars
Disappointment. I didn't like the 4th album, and live versions of songs didn't save it. Oldest song being The Kill, acoustic, I wasn't too impressed. Cool show and experience behind the stage though.
17. The Blackout
Energetic show which included the singer running around the audience and making uncomfortable people shout in his mic
18. Enter Shikari
Show was insane, included the audience forming a human pyramid with me on top of it. Enough old songs. Meeting Chris after was the highlight !
19. Paramore
Literally fifth time was the charm - with album 4 out I wouldn't have thought this would be the show I get to hear Let the flames begin again. I did, and I cried.
20. Mew 
Seeing all my 4 biggest all time loves in one year is just amazing. Singing to 156 holding hands with a friend, eyes closed was one of my summer's best moments
21. Bastille
Thanks to Nick Grimshaw I even knew this band and got front row but only saw like 20 minutes cos Mew played same time. Still INSANE vocals and energy. Good
22. PMMP
Finland's biggest and most beautiful woman fronted band's last show I'll ever see. Over 10 years they've put up the best festival gigs and I will deffo miss them. Not their best show I've seen tho
23.-24. Cheek
Something really happened and I liked him. The second show in October was even better.
25. Conor Maynard
And onto V Festival. Mr. Maynard started the festival for us and couldn't have done better. Vocals are great live and his awkward sexy dancing is just adorable. And Animal is the best pop song.

Front row realness. Her stuff is way edgier live, I was on fire and so was the miss herself. THANKS JESSIE

I would have never guessed there'd be so many people watching her based on her success here. She was amazingly good, just plain LOVED Do it like a dude

I know I only saw like two songs because of logistical problems but still. I saw her. Don't get all her hype but can't deny she's sick singer and dancer

Funky pop show with some very interesting backstage action (likes of Niall Horan and Liam Payne) and eye candy male dancers. Another bunch of very talented singers

Woop wooooopppp he was so good and there also were like a billion people. His awkward smiles between the songs made my heart flutter

Having gained a strong following since I last saw them, the show was bolder and rockier and I really liked it

If I were to choose five best shows I'd go with these…

I felt so bad for leaving Mew out but I've seen them so many times a few newcomers had to take their place. Top 10 would have them, Conor Maynard, Union J, The Saturdays and Ellie Goulding in. Top 20… No haha I stop here.

So my comments look so lame and just repetitive but as I have said earlier, why would I go see bad shows.. haha. I have tickets for 7 concerts for this year, let's see what 2014 brings along… I'll see Justin Timberlake, One Direction x3 (maybe…. 4…..), Little Mix x2 and Cheek plus supports and hopefully at least one festival.

And on top of my head I could think of these babes who are putting an album out in 2014 !

This time Mew is where it deserves to be - their last record dates back to 2009 and I'm so ready for new music (and new promo pics) - musically most excited about them. Then we have Adam Lambert and I'm not sure about this but maybe Little Mix putting out their third records - yaaass ! Number twos are awaited from Conor Maynard, Cher Lloyd, Rita Ora and Union J - I am officially SO excited for them all ! Can't wait ! You Me At Six, Breathe Carolina and One Direction are giving us album fours, Ymas in two weeks. I am worried over BC cos Kyle left so I don't really know what they will be now.
I put Neon Jungle and Tich in without actually knowing if their debuts will be out this year but a girl can dream… If you haven't heard of these gorgeous girls, check out Tich's Little by Little or for more mainstream pop Dumb. Neon Jungle's Braveheart (out Jan 19th !) has been on repeat for a few days now. I am so happy if their records come this year - and if  they are good. I am sure I forgot someone from this super professional collage too. (It feels overwhelming to think that there are 12 of my fave artists and members of FOUR of them follow me on twitter. Cher, Tich, JJ Union J and Asami and Shereen from Neon Jungle. I'm one lucky (and trying-to-be-funny) girl !)
I should have made a post of the best albums of 2013 too - might do that later. It's back to school tomorrow for mehhh.

Whatever path we choose to take there will be highs and lows the same

Tein äsken instagram-postauksen johon kirjoitin "when all you want to do is cry, making soup might help. sometimes it does, sometimes not." Tänään se ei auttanut, enpä mä oikeesti sitä olettanutkaan, kun ruokaa tein. Viimeset päivät oon ollu enemmän tai vähemmän yksin kotona ja itkenyt. Yhtenä päivänä nousin sängystä yhteensä ehkä neljäksi tunniksi. Eilen illalla tein tapani mukaan toiveen kello 1.56, ja tällä kertaa toivoin, etten heräis tänään itkien. Tää toive onneksi toteutui. Eilen heräsin kauheaan painajaiseen, itkien. Näin painajaista aiheesta, jota pelkään alitajunnassani jatkuvasti, ja jota oon tietoisestikin miettinyt viime aikoina välillä. Ei siis pitäis kai olla edes yllättynyt.

Musta se, mitä Union J saa mut tuntemaan, on outoa ja uskomattoman vapauttavaa. Oon tottunut bändien ja artistien (lähinnä One Directionin) kohdalla siihen, että putoon tosi kovaa ja rakastun niin liikaa, että mistään ei tuu mitään. Siks onkin ihanaa, outoa ja, oikeestaan, vähän pelottavaakin, että UJ ei saa mua toivomaan että voisin repiä kaikki hiukset yksitellen päästäni, koska se sattuis vähemmän ku mitä niiden rakastaminen sattuu (kysykää keneltä tahansa hardcore-fangirliltä - tää ei oo edes kovin suurta liiottelua). Käytin termiä "they make me violently happy" kuvaamaan tuntemuksiani, ja toistaseks pysyttelen siinä. Totta kyllä, oon rakastunut JJ Hamblettiin mutta lähinnä sellasella HEART EYES EMOJI -tavalla, missä ei sinänsä oo mitään pahaa. Mun rakkaus sellasia ihmisiä kohtaan, jotka ei tiedä et mä oon olemassa, on parasta mussa, ja onhan se vähän surullista. Musta tuntuu vähän tältä, kun katon Union J:tä.

Ku vaan tuntuis tolta myös muuten. 

Oon taas vanhassa kunnon "mitäs saatanaa sitä elämällään tekis" -kriisissä, ja se tuntuu näin näppäimistölle kirjotettuna huomattavasti pienemmältä pahalta, ku miltä se päässä tuntuu. Oon koulussa, jossa oon pärjänny hyvin ja jopa suuri osa siitä on käytykin jo. Oon töissä, missä sinänsä viihdyn, ja missä oon esimiesasemassa ja missä mun toiveita kuunnellaan ja hommat hoituu joustavasti. Asun yksin, tarpeeks lähellä kotia. Oon päässy matkustamaan. Mulla ei siis kai pitäis olla "mitään vialla." Mutta mä en oo koskaan tykänny ajatuksesta, että jos mulla on jotain, mun on oltava "onnellinen" kaikesta muustakin. Mä en viihdy mun koulussa, enkä tiedä haluanko käydä sen loppuun. Koulu, johon haluaisin, on erittäin kallis ja sinne on hankala päästä. En myöskään tiedä, onko se ala edes se, jolle oikeasti haluan, ja pärjäisinkö siellä. En jaksa uskoa itteeni, enkä repiä itteeni tekemään kaikkea, mitä pitäis. Kuuntelen kaikkia lauluja, joissa menestyvät upeat naiset, jotka ei oo ollu mitään vielä 10/5/2 vuotta sitten, laulaa kuinka mun pitää vaan mennä sen unelman perään, enkä usko niitä. Miks mä en usko ? Siinähän mulla on esimerkkejä vaikka kuinka paljon: Jessie J, Rita Ora, Little Mix, Cher Lloyd… Ja nekin varmasti välillä herää itkien (vaikka naiivisti ajateltuna - miks sä itkisit jos asuisit Lontoossa, sulla ois kaikki mitä voit toivoa ja sulle vielä maksetaan siitä, että teet sitä mitä oot koko elämäs ajan halunnut tehdä. Koska maailma ja ihmismieli ei onneks toimi niin yksinkertaisesti, uskon, että myös Rita itkee joskus aamuisin, koska se ei tiedäkään, haluaako tehdä tätä aina). Joten miks se ei ois todella ok myös mulle ?

Mä voisin kirjottaa tähän kaikki mitä aion tehdä ja mitä mun pitäis tehdä, että pääsisin sinne, minne (tällä hetkellä luulen, että) haluan. Helpompaa on kuitenkin olla pyyhkimättä kyyneleitä, koska just nyt ne alkaa kuitenkin pian uudelleen. On helpompaa olla ilonen siitä, että Lou Teasdale favourited mun tweetin yks päivä, kuin oikeasti kurottaa sitä kohti, mitä miss Teasdale tekee. Kyllä ne kyyneleet kuivuu, kyllä mä löydän itsestäni tahdon, koska jos ei oo tyytyväinen, pitää tehdä muutos. Mun veli on yllättäen ollu tässä asiassa mulle jopa melkeen esikuva - se tekee tällä hetkellä kaikkensa päästäkseen kouluun, joka mahdollistais sille sen unelmien uran. Se koulu on vaan väline sille, mutta se tekee kovempaa duunia ku mitä oon koskaan nähny sen tekevän. Ihanku Danielle Peazer ois päässy National English Ballet Schooliin tekemättä duunia. Ei Lou Teasdalea otettu X Factoriin assistentiks koska se oli onnekas. Molemmat myöhemmin pääs tekemään just sitä mitä ne parhaiten osaa, just siellä missä ne haluaa. Koska ne teki aivan helvetisti töitä.

MIKS MÄ EN VOIS PÄÄSTÄ ? Oon puhunut Cher Lloydin stylistin, Union J:n stylistiassarin ja BBC Radio 1 harjottelijan (joka sai töitä sieltä) kanssa, ja kaikkien ohjeet on pohjimmiltaan samat: TEE TÖITÄ. Chase the dream. Jared Leto laulo jo ikuisuus sitten "in defence of our dreams" ja mä ajattelin et se on hyvä ajatus, mulla ei vaan ollu unelmia joita puolustaa vielä silloin. Nyt mulla ehkä on, ja mä aion antaa ihan kaiken mitä mulla on. Siinä sivussa pitää vaan elää tätä elämää myös, mikä mulla on nyt. En tiiä mihin tää postaus ois hyvä lopettaa, mut lopetettava se on, koska mulla on paljon tekemistä tänään tässä elämässä, joka tässä muodossaan on mun elettävä nyt. 

Yks päivä näytin hyvältä. Lookin nimi oli "Marry me JJ Hamblett I'm trying to hide these tears from you but actually I already bought the wedding ring". Tulee muuten huomattavasti coolimpi olo, kun vuotavat silmät ja liian isot sormukset antaa aiheen tollaselle nimelle. 

Hyvää alkanutta viikkoa teille 89 uskolliselle, jotka siellä vielä ootte. Menkää unelmienne perään, ni ehkä saan myös teistä inspiraatiota.

We're the lucky ones

Your travel blogger here again (and apparently the only blogger I am anymore, on top of being an instagram blogger). I wish I still wrote more. Writing in english because I'll link this to twitter cos the people there probs want to read this.

So time has come to wrap 2013 up with the last travel report, the fifth one of the year. This time it was again off to England, to Heathrow, but then up north to Newcastle to see the lovely Union J. (As I write this I'm watching/listening their X Factor journey and I'm sick so I'm basically crying my eyes out just now.)

SOOOOOOOO on the 27th December we headed to airport again with Jenna and Iida. I'd got a new phone as a Christmas present so what would be better first pic on a new phone than this:

The theme of the trip was selfies - and we lived up to it. I don't think I've ever taken that many selfies in four days. And again I'm wearing my Stay Great Apparel crew neck, never travelling without it (in fact I think they should sponsor me a new one cos this is quite worn already).

You don't need the flight socks (is that the word) if you warm up properly before the flight.
Flight was horrible, turbulences and all and I'm not super keen of flying anyway. Finally landed and time for the first selfie in London.

No teeth since 1992. I feel my eyebrows in this.

Train took us to London, where we changed stations with an underground and boarded our first train and the five ish hour trip to north began.

Stop at Doncaster was important. Hello Louis (who actually probably was home that day). 

Travel size Monopoly is the best thing I know. And with London streets and places it fitted our journey v well. Oh and I won both games. And we all accidentally wore slightly matching crew necks.

We had to change from bus to train in … Huntingdon ? Anyway from there we got a bus to Grantham and then another train to Newcastle. Luckily a Burger King was open at the station at 11pm and via that we started to our hotel, Jury's Inn Newcastle. Hotel was okay, about a 20 minute walk to city centre and St. James' Park, and a 10 minute walk to train station. Sound resistance was non existing and the bathroom floor was ice cold. Beds were comfy and you could use the window sill as a fridge cos it had a … "door" and it was indeed very cold. Jenna had a dream the Union J boys climbed to our window (on the third floor) and offered us vip tickets. Sadly, a dream.

 So after a good and needed sleep we hit the town to browse the shops and also visited St. James' Park (it's a football station. I didn't know either). Here we are, all ready to go (and without breakfast).

On our way to the city centre we saw this poster that I guess has been on that wall since 2010. X Factor just is our fate.

In the city there was this HUGE shopping centre with basically every shop in the world but Forever 21. Seems to me there's like one F21 in England.

Jenna set this as the background on all the iPhones in that phone shop. Soz EE !

World is so small though - in New Look I was sure this girl looked familiar and turns out she actually was one of my Twitter friends. Hello Haneen ! (Also Greg James' been born and raised in Ncl.) Some pounds poorer and stomachs filled with Nando's (and a brekkie we had at place called JJ's cos it fit the theme) we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the show. It's been exactly a week today and I still am not sure I actually saw Union J live. We had a pre party in our room with some 4.99£ cava and black eyeshadow. I ripped the dress I bought for the show months ago and had to change outfit which turned out to be a very clever move. In my opinion nothing is better than a hotel room pre party before basically anything.

UJ had four support acts. FOUR. I've never heard anyone have more than three (and that was Metallica who did), and cos we are narrow minded shits we didn't go see any of them. Or mostly just because we had so much more fun dancing to Conor Maynard in our hotel room.

So when we arrived at the venue (Newcastle City Hall) there already were quite a lot people - mostly girls under 18 with their parents, can you imagine. The venue was very small so even our seats were second last row we had a good view - and to be honest, I wouldn't have changed our JJ seats to anything but maybe front row. (A person who I follow on twitter was sad that UJ don't pick their Amaze me girls from front row. So appaz you can find cons in front row too, so JJ was just amazing.) So here is Jenna, I and JJ. There was a little girl on the seat before me who just kept staring us blank in the eye. Okay we get it we are too old (still younger than half the members of the band you're seeing, Miss Little Girl !) and we speak a language you don't understand, but pls.

So the show started at the minute it was planned. When was the last time I was at a concert where the act started when they were supposed to ???!??!?! Not including festivals, I say it's been years. Literally Iida showed her phone like "look it's 9pm they should start no-" and the lights went out. And the boys KILLED IT. With Jenna we had slight suspicions of their live singing abilities (how, after watching them on XF, I don't know either) but oh how I love to be wrong  these kinds of things ! The atmosphere was amazing, boys were relaxed even with half of them sick, audience took part. To me it was interesting that even they are a four-piece act, they all did a solo song. George's cover of Katy Perry was nice and got people going cos 80% of Union J fans are George girls. Jaymi blew the roof off the place with Beyonce's Listen - damn I love that boy ! My angel thing JJ sang OneRepublic's Counting Stars and was tons better than I thought and I just cried like. Josh did Emeli Sande's Beneath your beautiful and was breath taking as always. The boys played all their album songs, starting with my faves, Lucky Ones, Beethoven and Where are you now. Taylor Swift medley and Skyscraper by ms. Lovato were included too. 

I am so happy I came up with this ridiculous idea to travel to a place I'd never heard of before (or at least had no idea where it was) and to blow another bunch of euros to a band. After the show we waited outside about two hours to get a glimpse of the boys. JJ and Jaymi went to their bus and we didn't see them (but Jaymi's quiff thru the bus window, I say it counts). But after some time our wait was rewarded as Josh and George walked out the venue past us, literally less than a metre away with no one else but us three on that door. Iida got to hug George and they said hi so it was deffo worth the freezing. I said earlier it was clever to change the dress to jeans and yeah, I'd be dead by now if I'd stood there in that Geordie look for hours. Geordie shore is a super realistic show btw, everyone there looks like the people on the show. And there actually were girls waiting outside for hours wearing nothing but leggings and tops. No jacket no scarf no nothing and it was December ! My motherly side would have been worried if the said girls weren't just about the most annoying thing I'd ever encountered. 

On our way back to the hotel we saw tons of party-ready Geordie people and a few bobbies Jenna wanted a pic with, and that turned out very nice.

At the hotel Jenna just crashed on the bed and basically this sums up our feelings of one of the most fun days of (at least my) life.

I've deffo seen better pics of myself even after a show but yeah. Post Union J morning selfie in Starbucks that was empty. Crazy I know. After a few hours of sleep it was time to roll our bags out and go get brekkie before a new train trip, this time back to London where we stayed for two days. Trains in England are expensive af, so if you travel buy the tickets a lot in advance and you can save hundreds of pounds. Coaches aren't that expensive, but took ages. We paid only fifty ish pounds of return tix London-Ncl-Ldn. A site called Q Jump is good for train tickets or just the train lines' own sites.

On the way back monopoly was too much so card time. And loads of bottled water…. A little girl sitting next to us sang a song with amazing lyrics "we're driving through a tunnel can I get an iPad" and I loved it. Train trip with no changes took a bit less than three hours to London Kings Cross.

Oh yeah, Kings Cross. 

After queuing for 35 minutes for the pic above it was time to go find our hotel. And what a hotel it was… Hyde Park Suite Apartments sounds all fancy and cool but when the receptionist doesn't know there's stairs in the hotel he works in and re-places us in an basement flat…. well. If the sound resistance in Ncl was bad it was nothing to compared to this. As I said we had a small flat with kitchen and people who were renovating the room above us. Also every spoken word from the street pierced our windows and it got pretty noisy at times. In a more quiet and warmer flat this coulda been a nice stay, as the hotel was located next to Queensway and Bayswater ug stations and a few grocery stores so the environment was nice. 

On sunday evening we went to stroll on Oxford Street (and had some more Nando's). The christmas lights above Oxford and Regent street were magical.

On Monday we headed to Westfield Shepherd's Bush at quite an early hour which turned out to be a good choice as there weren't that many people yet. Breakfast at Pret again then killing the time in the shops was what I call the good life.

Feeling it on the underground. My friend said I look "chic" in this and on some twisted level I agree with her.

I haven't often seen a person more bored with their job than the guy working in that shop when Jenna asked him to take this pic. I can't blame him.

These Brits really know their crimbo light game. We also went for a lunch with my friend Ryan and just talked about weird long Finnish words for like three hours. His favourite was "muikku."

Dear whoever is in charge of this, bring Pret to Finland. Can't get enough of their stuff. 

On the last night we popped another bottle of some cheap Sainsbury's sparkling wine and took pics of what we had bough and stroked Union J's faces. From a book. 

As you can see we had three of them so it was more than okay pastime.

 Harry, Jj, Hayley, Jared and Adam all said "I do" !!!

… But Iida still won this. All rings bought from the trip. 

Again no sleep for the weak - got up ridiculously early on tuesday that was  New Year's Eve and headed to the airport. I'd been looking for a new iPhone case for my new phone all trip but couldn't find one so I was mega happy to find this Ted number from Heathrow. It was about half price too.

Not the freshest people heading home. Oi Stay Great I wore the jumper again ! Thank you Jenna and Iida for our trip, I kind of like you somewhat lot. You still amaze me and all that.

Travellin in the tightest midi skirt isn't the most clever outfit decision I've made. But it looked nice okay. 

So now it's been a week since the concert and I can proudly announce I'm not suffering of PCD like if you know me you know I always do. I had the normal "I hate life and just want to travel" feeling for like two days but this time I'm just genuinely SO HAPPY I GOT TO SEE UNION J. Just now they're passed even One Direction and cos I don't know how this lasts I'll just ride the wave before it settles.
